The
island of Dominican has five main regions namely the Northern Coast, the Eastern
Coast, the Southern Coast, the Interior, and the Samana Peninsula. Out of the
main regions of Dominican Republic, the peninsula of Samana is the smallest and
is only made up of three divisions. This includes the city of Samana, the Las
Galeras and the Las Terrenas. Las Terrenas was once a small village where most
people get their income from the fishing industry. But as the years pass and
many lands in Las Terrenas were developed, it is now considered as one of the
best tourist destinations around the island of Dominican Republic.
The area of Las Terrenas has a weather which is perfect for the much dreamed
summer holiday. The weather has an excellent combination of trade winds and
sub-tropical warm temperature created by the Atlantic Ocean. All-year round, Las
Terrenas offers tourists the cozy ambiance that you can never experience
anywhere else in the world. Although there is a winter season in Las Terrenas,
you can barely feel that the colder season is already approaching or has already
hit the grounds of the fishing town. There is only a little difference in the
temperature of the summer season and the winter season in Las Terrenas. However,
you might need a windbreaker to fight against the chilly winds during the colder
days in the town.
Las
Terrenas' main attractions are the beaches, that would welcome you as you land
your feet in the area of the town. The warm and hospitable acceptance of the
calmness of Las Terrenas would make you feel like staying here for the rest of
your life. No wonder many tourists and expatriates have decided to stay here
rather than visit the town for a few days every year. The beaches are all
carpeted with fine white sands that there's no need for you to wear slippers
since your feet does not need protection from anything. Tall palm trees lines
the shore as it gives shade for your relaxation while the sun is striking hot.
There are also several wooden fishing boats parked in the shores of the beaches
of Las Terrenas used by the locals so that you can taste the freshest and best
sea food in the whole world.
Restaurants and cafes are scattered along the oceanfront of Las Terrenas. This
is the ideal place to read a book, relax, and be captivated with the natural
exquisiteness of the town. These establishments also offers the fine-tasting
wines of Las Terrenas. There are also several souvenir shops where you can take
home some items that would remind you of your fantastic vacation in this small
part of Dominican Republic. Most of the merchandise sold in these shops are
handcrafted items from the locals of Las Terrenas and other crafts that you can
never find anywhere else in Dominican Republic. As for those who wanted to enjoy
water-related activities, diving, snorkeling, kite boarding, and windsurfing are
the common activities that can be done here in Las Terrenas.
